As it is place where one seeks God, the abbey is also a place of welcome and renewal, open to anyone wishing to deepen their faith, take a step back, take a break…
The Saint-Wandrille Abbey had different lodgings to receive guests individually. But the capacities of these buildings were too small to accommodate groups over several days. The Saint-Jacques Guesthouse, built at short distance from the abbey, now meets this ever-growing demand.
THANKS TO FIRST DONATIONS, WORK WAS ABLE TO BEGIN IN EARLY 2019.
FOLLOWING OUR RULE OF PRUDENCE, THE STAGES OF THE WORK WERE LAUNCHED PROGRESSIVELY, AS ALLOWED BY OUR FINANCING POSSIBILITIES.
THE SAINT-JACQUES GUESTHOUSE OPENED ITS DOORS IN SPRING 2022.
Including also mini-dormitories with 6 beds, and group rooms with 4 beds. In all: 93 places.
A VARIETY OF GUESTS
We also wanted to offer companies the possibility of working in teams in a place prone to reflection, and to give the opportunity to discover monastic life.
Apart from school vacations and weekends, which are reserved for groups of retreatants, the guesthouse can also accommodate seminars. For this purpose, several meeting rooms and a large multi-purpose room have been provided, all equipped with the necessary material, and 18 individual rooms with sanitary facilities.
A chapel, whose interior is being finished, allows guests to have their own celebrations outside the monastic services.
